About

The Capilano Courier is Capilano University’s number-one campus newspaper. In fact, we’re the only one, so we’re taking the cake by default. Established in 1968, the Courier is published monthly by the Capilano Courier Publishing Society, an independent non-profit society. The Courier is led by both students and alumni and is funded by student fees and the occasional bit of advertising.

The Courier’s coverage ranges from campus and community news, to feature profiles, reports on the Capilano Blues, opinion pieces, and everything else in between.

All students of CapU are encouraged to join the Courier’s rotating group of contributors. No experience is necessary, although all submissions are subject to editing for brevity and content.

The Courier’s group of editors, hired every summer prior to the fall semester, will provide training and editing to any student interested in contributing. All articles written for the Courier are paid.

Working with the Courier is a fantastic way of getting involved in CapU’s exciting campus community. The editors have their ears very close to the ground and are always informed about happenings on campus. If anything, the Courier office is a tranquil place located in the far corners of the University, except when the garbage truck does its rounds – yes, we’re located at Maple 122, right beside one of the school’s primary dumpsters.

Capilano University is located on the traditional unceded territories of the LíỈwat, xʷməθkʷəỷəm (Musqueam), shíshálh (Sechelt), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and SəỈílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

We recognize our presence here as guests on this sacred land and deeply appreciate the privilege to work, study, and reside in this remarkable place. The Capilano Courier acknowledges that this gesture is just a starting point on the path to reconciliation, and we are committed to amplifying Indigenous voices and sharing their stories.

Upcoming Tabling Hours: Thursdays, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at either the Learning Commons entrance (LB 126) or Birch Cafeteria.
