CSU President Sacha Fabry will temporarily take over vacated position
After a tumultuous stint with the Capilano Students’ Union (CSU), Jullian Kolstee has resigned from his post as Vice-President of University Relations and Services, the Capilano Courier learned Friday, Mar. 10.
Kolstee’s departure becomes the final straw in an eventful year with the CSU, which saw him voted down from his initial role as CSU President in a board meeting on Sept. 23, 2016 – just weeks after the new academic year commenced.
Kolstee has been with the CSU since 2014, first maintaining the position of Students with Disabilities Liaison (now known as Accessibility Justice Liaison). This year was his first as an executive member of the board.
Throughout his time with the CSU, Kolstee was integral in the implementation of numerous services. The now-former VP of University Relations and Services spearheaded initiatives and programs like the Volunteer Registry and the CSU’s active campaign regarding the Fentanyl Crisis.
In an interview with the Courier published on Sept. 23, 2016, Kolstee (then speaking as CSU President) outlined his plans to improve Capilano University’s sense of community, as well as the internal procedures that happen within the CSU.
Since Kolstee’s departure, CSU President and VP of External Relations Sacha Fabry has handled the abandoned responsibilities to no extra pay. The position will remain with Fabry until the CSU elections later this month. Unofficial results will be announced Mar. 23.
